Life in a weight obsessed society, pressures to be thin, look your best and keeping your sanity. Yes ladies, guys go through this too. My struggle with weight in writing, read my journey to shed 29 years of fat. Unlearn bad habits, and find life outside the fast food world. Can I do it? Only time will tell but I plan on documenting my day to day trials and tribulations here.

Hello

Is anyone out there? I’m back!

2nd 5k…check

Today we ventured to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena CA to participate in the Run fir the Rescues 5k a fundraiser for local non-kill animal shelters. This year it was hosted by Jane Lynch from Glee who participated in the 5k. We also saw Danielle Fischell from The Dish on Style Network. It was cool to see local celebrities participating in the actual race as well as hosting it. Just goes to show you that they are normal people who care for others. We finished as dog participants 20 and 21 so I’m think the skinny runners that participated didn’t bring their dogs lol. It was a good day but what was the icing on top of the cake is when I bid and won an autographed bull horn signed by Jane Lynch from Glee. She brought many items to help raise funds and I can’t wait to use my bullhorn during Glee nights :)

So there was a silent auction for an autographed megaphone which I won. Icing on top of a great run with our pups raisin money for local animal non kill shelters in Los Angeles, awesome!

Saw Danielle Fishell from Style networks The Dish and one of my fav moments, passing up Glee’s Jane Lynch during the run. Even Jack-Jack (bottom left) was starstruck :)

Lived this 5k because it’s actually a race where dogs bring their favorite human to race. :) Jack-Jack and Bella chose us. :)

What a week and it’s not over yet

Spent the week in bed so far, third day and I have to go back to work tomorrow. I am definitely not looking forward to it but I don’t have the extra vacation time to take off so its back to work I go. We have another 5K this week and I have thought it over and I may prep myself to run a half marathon next year in March to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I have an orientation meeting on the 28th so we will see how it goes. As for diet, I have been drinking mostly water and broth for the past few days so hopefully that is a plus in the weight loss section. I just need to get over this cold so I can get back to training. I am taking this week as a wash since it has been raining all week and I have been sick. Sometimes its just better to quit while you are ahead however next week is a new week!

To run or not to run?

So I’m thinking of Participating in the LA Marathon to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society …,

MIA

Well it’s been a few months and so much has changed. We bought our forever home and I have been working on moving and setting things up. I just finished my first 5K last Sunday and Im so stoked that I actually did it. It was definitely a hard thing to do but it had far more values to doing it than to just drop off completely.

Although I finished my first 5 K it was my first serious run since June. Needless to say it was anything but easy but you get what you put in. I am thinking of signing up for another in two weeks but on the fence about it. One thing I DO know is I’m not going to stop and there is a race in November I AM going to join so more to come on that.

It’s been so long since I blogged and this was one of my main sources of inspiration, I feel disappointed in myself. So now that so much has happened I still find myself struggling with jumping back in 100%. Baby steps, I need to keep blogging. It’s my main way of documenting my journey and my main way of keeping myself in line. I have missed you TUMBLR! Hello everyone!!! IM BACK! :)

Yo-Yo no more

Well these past few weeks I have continued to enjoy the foods I love and I wondered how they effected my weight. Turns out I have gained a bit of weight since I weighed in a few months at 290, 4 pounds to be exact but the pounds yo-yo a bit. I have two months before I run my first 5k. I haven’t done much training but I continue to do light cardio on an almost regular basis. Time to step it up and hit the streets running again! Where do you go to get an extra dose of motivation. Ugh the hardest part of losing weight. Continuous momentum and motivation, it’s harder than losing weight! :)

Disappointments and hopefulness

Yesterday I realized I was running down to the last of my clean clothes. I pulled out a pair of shorts to wear to the store. My shorts were super tight and barely able to button. This made me sad because the smallest item I have is a size 40. My first thought was, no I’m regressing! How could I be gaining weight after losing over 20lbs!?! We went to the store and when we came back I felt defeated an disappointed. As the night drew near I prepared for bed and changed. To my surprise the 40’s were actually 38’s I cam actually fit into 38’s. Yes barely but understand that before I would not even get them over my big behind now they fit over and are snug on the waist. I pondered this and consulted my resident physician who feels I have lost fat but gained lean muscle which is the only way to explain not gaining or losing weight but fitting into smaller clothes. Thank god for small miracles. Now I really need to work on stepping up my jogging 10 weeks away from my first 5k.
